Ron Platt Courage Awards (RPCA) Given at Red to Blue Grassroots Dinner

We are also excited to present the 1st Annual Ron Platt Courage Award to seven fantastic recipients. The Ron Platt Courage Award is given in honor of Calaveras County Democratic activist and founding TBRC member, Ron Platt, who died of cancer in 2008. Ron was a Calaveras County grassroots activist who — through his own strength of character and selfless courage — inspired his fellow Democrats to become more active, committed, empowered, and knowledgeable. He definitely left “the world better than he found it.”
Our recipients of this year’s Ron Platt Courage Award stepped into the political arena, against great odds and without institutional support. Like our Governor Dean, their campaigns, built from the bottom-up, have been instrumental in inspiring this growing Blue Wave. In their successes, we found our strength and inspiration. In their selflessness, we found our resolve. In their courage, we found our voice. So it is with great respect and appreciation, that we honor the recipients of the 2009 RPCA: Congressman Jerry McNerney, Lt. Col. Charlie and Jan Brown, Dr. Bill and Diane Durston, Russ Warner, and Francine Busby.
